FIELD: technology for controlling movement of transportation vehicles.

SUBSTANCE: method for determining position of a moving object in navigation system includes operations: (a) receipt of GPS data about position of moving object; (b) determining of zone of absence of GPS signal receipt using received GPS positioning data; (c) calculation of rectilinear movement distance of moving object relatively to last GPS positioning data in signal receipt zones, when moving object is in zone of absence of GPS signal receipt; (d) computation of virtual positioning data with usage of computed distance of rectilinear movement of moving object; and (e) computation on digital map of computed position, closest data-wise to virtual position, and realization of synchronization with map for navigational support.

EFFECT: group of inventions allows precise determining of object position in zone of absence of GPS signals receipt when realizing navigational support.
