METHOD FOR CONTROLLING MOTION OF FEED DRIVE IN METAL CUTTING MACHINE TOOL Russian patent published in 2007 - IPC B23Q15/12

FIELD: machine engineering, possibly machine tool manufacture, namely measuring current value of traction force by means of axial force pickup.

SUBSTANCE: signal of axial force pickup is fed to inlet of adaptive control system provided with circuit for adaptive control. In said system control action in the form of voltage is formed and it is fed through amplifier to loading device for sustaining preliminarily determined traction force or resistance force created by means of feed drive unit. Signal corresponding to preliminarily determined for concrete working condition maximum traction force in feed drive unit is fed to inlet of adaptive control system and it is compared with current value of traction force in drive unit. Control action for feed drive unit is formed according to value of difference signal obtained by comparison in order to create respective braking force of movable part of drive unit.

EFFECT: lowered level of dynamic loads acting upon members of feed drive unit, reduced influence of rigidity of parts of drive unit upon accuracy of motion, improved quality of worked surface, enhanced strength of tools and operational reliability of the whole machine tool.
