SUBSTANCE: in accordance to the invention, network interface module is selectively switched to state with low power consumption for time of waiting, where duration of time of waiting is computed in such a way, that on switch of network interface module to state with low power consumption for computed waiting time, expected accumulated amount of delayed traffic data does not exceed given threshold value, and amount of delayed traffic data as a function of waiting time is modeled with usage of average frequency of receipt and average intensity of service, which are derived from traffic statistics data.
EFFECT: reduced power consumption of network interface module of wireless device.
