SURGICAL METHOD FOR EXPOSING TRACHEA IN CARRYING OUT TRACHEOSTOMY Russian patent published in 2007 - IPC A61B17/00 

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: method involves moving aside and holding tissues by means of hinged hooks mounted on cartridge. The hooks are manufactured as blades of two types for moving aside and, those having teeth, for holding tissues. The blades are placed in opposite upper wound edges close to the head. After having opened cervical aponeurosis, two removable blades are brought under the aponeurosis in perpendicular to skin incision direction. Cricosternal and sternothyroid muscles are drawn apart by placing a pair of holding blades under the upper proximal and submental region after having done their dissection. Fascia attaching thyroid gland isthmus to cricoid cartilage, its edges are brought under the lower pair of holding blades. After having skeletted the trachea, pretracheal fascia is transected and its edges are brought underneath the lower pair of holding blades until tracheal rings become visible.

EFFECT: reduced risk of traumatic complications.
