FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions refers to medicine, namely to surgery of a thyroid gland and other anterior neck organs. A procedure involves an oral approach to said organs. A mouth floor mucosa is dissected transversely. Thereafter major and minor sublingual ducts are displaced laterally. Genioglossal and geniohyoid muscles are dissected lengthways. A retractor comprising two branches of different lengths is inserted in a formed space in such a manner that a longer branch faces an anterior neck, while a shorter branch faces a trachea. A mylohyoid muscle is dissected suture-line to an attachment point to a hyoid bone. Then the retractor is moved between anterosuperior digastric heads with establishing the shorter branch on the hyoid bone. Sternohyoid and omohyoid muscles of neck are dissected lengthways. Thereafter second and third cervical fascias are dissected lengthways with exposing a thyroid cartilage and anterior tracheal rings. The retractor is moved on by placing the shorter branch on the thyroid cartilage. Then the branches are moved apart to form a required surgical area. The applied retractor consists of the longer and shorter L-branches. An opening-closing mechanism enables substantially parallel opening-closing of the branches relatively to each other. The opening-closing mechanism is arranged out of a surgical axis.
EFFECT: group of inventions allows providing a surgical approach to a thyroid and other neck organs, eliminates a postoperative scar.
