METHOD FOR PREDICTING UNFAVORABLE FLOW OF SEPSIS Russian patent published in 2008 - IPC G01N33/52

Abstract RU 2315311 C1

FIELD: medicine, intensive therapy.

SUBSTANCE: the present innovation deals with a two-fold detection of the concentration of bivalent iron in blood serum in sepsis-suffering patients during the 1st d of postsurgical period at time intervals from 10 a.m. till 3 p.m. and from 8 p.m. till 12 p.m. followed by calculating the index of endotoxicosis severity (IES). At IES being above 3 one should predict unfavorable flow of sepsis. The innovation suggested enables to predict unfavorable flow of sepsis at earlier stages of its development in patients with purulent-inflammatory diseases.

EFFECT: higher accuracy of prediction.
