SUBSTANCE: invention relates to devices and a method of stabilizing broadband optical radiation with high spectral brightness and is of interest for applications in microelectronics, spectroscopy, photochemistry and other fields. Device for stabilizing radiation of optical discharge consists of discharge chamber, transparent for input laser radiation and output optical radiation, filled with gas mixture, one or more lasers located outside discharge chamber, which radiation is focused near discharge chamber center. Inside the chamber there introduced is a fixed heat-removing rod, the sharpened end of which partially enters the area of the side surface of the temperature of the gas heated by optical discharge, providing intense heat release from the heated gas without contact with the plasma of the optical discharge.

EFFECT: reduction of oscillatory instability of optical discharge and improvement of its spatial stability due to use of a heat-removing rod.
