FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an apparatus and a method of stabilizing broadband optical radiation with high spectral brightness and can be used in microelectronics, spectroscopy, photochemistry and other fields. Optical discharge radiation stabilization device consists of a discharge chamber which is transparent for input laser radiation and output optical radiation filled with a gas mixture of one or more lasers located outside the discharge chamber, which radiation is focused near discharge chamber center. Inside the chamber in its upper part there is a heat-removing rod, the end of which is located above the optical discharge surface, providing intense heat release from the heated gas, without contact with the plasma itself, optical discharge, wherein heat-removing rod diameter is larger than maximum size of hot gas cloud and is limited by size of discharge chamber section.
EFFECT: improved characteristics of the stabilization process, reduced oscillation instability of the optical discharge and improved spatial stability owing to use of a heat-removing rod located above the optical discharge.
