FIELD: crack resistance testing of materials.

SUBSTANCE: device comprises specimen holder that has grips and side plates, automatic system for recording stresses by means of strain gages and thermocouples, and specimen of material. In addition, the device has two face plates. The side plates and grips are interposed between the face plates. The grips are made of a material whose thermal coefficient of linear expansion is higher than that of the side plates, and their temperature dependencies are mutually proportional.
