APPARATUS FOR COMPENSATING MAGNETIC FIELD INDUCED BY ADJACENT ROW OF CONNECTED IN SERIES HIGH-POWER ALUMINUM CELLS Russian patent published in 2008 - IPC C25C3/16

Abstract RU 2316619 C1

FIELD: aluminum production by electrolysis of melt cryolite salts in high-power aluminum cells arranged across housing for electrolysis, namely apparatuses for compensating magnetic field.

SUBSTANCE: apparatus includes inner and outer compensation electric conductors arranged in the same level as layer of melt aluminum at least at one side of each row of cells. Apparatus also includes DC source connected with compensation electric conductors. Direction of direct current in inner compensation electric conductor coincides with direction of electric current in row of cells. Direction of direct current in outer compensation electric conductor is opposite relative to direction of direct current in row of cells while inner and outer compensation electric conductors are connected in series. Apparatus also includes additional compensation DC conductors arranged under bottom of cells in parallel relative to main compensation electric conductors. Near inner electric compensation conductor at least one additional compensation conductor is arranged under bottom of cells in zone of boundary cathode rods at side of inner electric compensation conductor. Electric current sign in said conductors is the same. Near outer electric compensation conductor at least two additional conductors are arranged under bottom of cells. One of said conductors is arranged in zone of boundary cathode rods at side of outer electric compensation conductor. Other of said conductors is arranged between said outer compensation conductor and small axis of cell; sign of electric current in said conductors is the same.

EFFECT: possibility for creating optimal magnetic field in melt at least of two rows of cells arranged across electrolysis housing, lowered quantity of stable expenses.
