FIELD: object radioactivity measurements; detection of radioactive sources in moving objects.

SUBSTANCE: proposed method for radiation monitoring of moving objects includes recording of ionizing radiation in region being monitored using two detectors coaxially disposed at opposite sides of object route, moment of object entrance in region of interest and moment of its departure from this region, measurement of current values of moving-object radiation flux between its entrance in region being monitored and its departure therefrom. Current values of radiation flux are memorized in the course of object movement in region being monitored, mean value of moving-object radiation flux at moment of object departure from region being monitored between mentioned moments of entrance and departure is evaluated, whereupon threshold value of radiation flux is calculated, memorized value of moving-object radiation flux is compared with radiation-flux threshold value calculated after moving object has passed region being monitored, and radioactive source is recognized in object by at least one memorized current value of radiation flux Ni exceeding threshold value between object entrance departure moments.

EFFECT: enhanced reliability of radioactive source detection in objects differently influencing natural background in region being monitored, reduced impact of moving-object parameters on radiation source detection process.
