FIELD: measuring.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radiation monitoring (RM) and is meant for searching for and detecting ionizing radiation sources (IRS). Method for searching and detecting sources of ionizing radiations with analysis of the time of detecting particles comprises continuously measuring the time of detecting particles and comparing the time interval for accumulation of N particles with a threshold value tthreshold, wherein tthreshold is calculated by formula after recording each pulse (1). Number of particles N in the presence of information on the speed and distance to the IRS is determined as N=mλfH/ν, and in the absence of information on the speed and distance to the IRS, the data processing is carried out with several versions of N, from the minimum to the maximum, by successively increasing N by 1.5 times, wherein decision on detection is made in case if time of detection of N particles is less than threshold value tthreshold.
EFFECT: high probability and faster detection when searching for IRS by means of RM, which are not equipped with special-purpose sensors.
