FIELD: measuring; radiation monitoring.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radiation monitoring (RM) and is intended for detecting ionizing radiation sources. Essence of the method for detecting ionizing radiation sources by the RM systems, which provide during their operation to stop the inspected object or vehicle in the control zone, consists in the fact that the duration of measurements when performing the RM in two stages depends on the results of the first measurement. Measurement time can be tnl, in case there is no excess of operation threshold at the first stage, or tnl+tn2 in case such excess was registered.
EFFECT: increasing throughput capacity of stationary systems of RM, providing for stopping the inspected object or vehicle in the control zone.
