FIELD: wireless communications, possible use for efficient detection of preferred wireless communication system.

SUBSTANCE: in accordance to the invention, mobile station includes processing circuits and memory, which stores a list of preferred roaming and data of priority of systems. Processing circuits are made with possible detection of communication event for wireless communication system selected currently and possible renewal of element in system priority data to reflect occurrence of detected communication event. Usage of stored statistical information increases efficiency of process for selecting and detecting system. During operation, wireless communication systems group is selected from preferred roaming list in accordance with predetermined system selection procedure. Priorities in the group are repeatedly assigned using priority data, and mobile station makes an attempt at detecting selected wireless communication system with the highest priority in a group with repeatedly assigned priorities. Repeated assignment of priorities may include group sorting, using priority data, and removal of systems, which do not satisfy certain priority criterions, from a group.

EFFECT: increased precision of detection.
