FIELD: sorbents in petroleum processing, chemical, and petrochemical industries.
SUBSTANCE: naturally occurring clay having montmorillonite-palygorskite structure are dried with heated air at 90-140°C. Dry clay with moisture content not higher than 25% is ground to form mud powder, which is then modified in mixer by way of moistening with aluminum sulfate solution to form paste suitable for subsequent granulation, after which molded on screw granulators. Granules are dried with hot air at 90-140°C to residual moisture content below 10% and then ground to produce commercial fraction of ground adsorbent with particle size 0.2-1.2 mm.
EFFECT: enhanced adsorption and catalytic activity of adsorbent, simplified preparation technology, and reduced power consumption.
