FIELD: space technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of ensuring fire safety of space technology objects and can be used in the development of means and methods for ensuring fire safety in manned sealed compartments of a manned transporting spacecraft and long-term orbital stations during an orbital flight. According to the present method, in order to ensure fire safety in a manned pressurized compartment of a spacecraft in an orbital flight, the maximum permissible burning time of elements made of polymeric materials τTlim is preliminarily determined for it as the time to reach the maximum permissible atmospheric temperature for astronauts and vital equipment. At the same time, elements made of polymeric materials, which have lower combustion limits in terms of the gas flow rate less than the ventilation flow rate at their location, are allowed for use if the following condition is met: τext ≤ КS × tTlim where τext is the time of extinguishing an element made of a given polymer material by means of an operational decrease in the performance of the ventilation system of the manned pressurized compartment, s; KS is the safety factor, and if the specified condition is met for all elements made of polymeric materials used in this pressurized compartment, this manned pressurized compartment of the spacecraft is fireproof in an orbital flight.
EFFECT: invention ensures fire safety of space technology objects.
