FIELD: welding production, namely electrode for manual arc welding and apparatus for making it.

SUBSTANCE: electrode includes electrode wire being its core and having zone for igniting arc and end surface for igniting arc. Arc igniting zone has at last one recess opened to lateral lengthwise surface of electrode wire. Cross section area of arc igniting zone is reduced in comparison with main cross section area of electrode wire. Apparatus includes unit for making electrode wires, unit for applying onto said electrode wires material forming slag at welding and shield gas, at least one unit for shaping and at least one holding member. Shaping unit is provided at least with one slit on one end zone of said electrode wires. Holding member is made with possibility for collecting electrode wires in order to feed them successively through cutting unit.

EFFECT: improved reliability of electric arc excitement, enhanced stability of controlled electric arc direction, intensified heat separation at time moment of electric arc excitement.
