FIELD: contact joint of aluminum cells, mainly for connecting cathode bus with cathode rod of aluminum cell.
SUBSTANCE: contact joint includes electric current supply bus in the form of set flexible strips and copper-aluminum tip secured to its end. Said tip is rigidly joined with cathode rod of cathode section of aluminum cell by means of fastening members. On contact surface of tip coating of metal or metal alloy such as nickel, chrome containing bronze, stainless steel or brass is applied. Said coating features high resistance against corrosion in air at elevated temperatures. Contact surface of cathode rod is subjected to mechanical working.
EFFECT: possibility for lowering cost price of aluminum production, improved operational reliability of contact joint due to reduced losses of electric power and due to increased time period between restoring operations of cathode section.
