FIELD: production of aluminium. SUBSTANCE: contact joint of electric current lead assembly of cathode section of aluminium cell includes aluminium electric current supply busbar in the form of set of flexible aluminium strips connected with cathode section of cell through tip joined with steel bloom of cathode section of aluminium cell by means of bolt. Tip is made of copper and aluminium plates mutually overlapped and joined by explosion welding and it forms intermediate member with contact area exceeding by 10-20% cross section area of aluminium electric current supply busbar. intermediate member is spaced from steel bloom end by distance no less than 5-6 thickness values of copper plates. Cross section area of copper plate of tip consists 65-70% of cross section area of aluminium electric current supply busbar. EFFECT: enhanced temperature conditions of operation of copper-aluminium intermediate member of aluminium cell due to lowered operational temperature (until 100-130C) at setting working mode of cell in the result of placing contact joint rather far from steel bloom being heat source. 2 dwg
