FIELD: electrical engineering; silver powders for chemical current supplies and methods for their production.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method for producing silver powder includes production of silver hydroxide, its drying, thermal decomposition into silver oxide and water, mechanical treatment and granulation, as well as thermal reduction of silver to metal silver. Silver hydroxide is produced in potassium chloride environment, initial concentration of potassium chloride aqueous solution being 12-15 mass percent. Silver hydroxide is dried out at temperature of 100-120 °C and its thermal reduction is conducted at 450-580 °C; after drying and thermal reduction powder is cooled down at room temperature and mechanically treated by squeezing silver oxide particles through mesh with holes measuring 450 x 450 μm. Mixture of silver oxide, potassium hydroxide, and metal silver powder with particle size below 56 μm is granulated by mechanical squeezing through mesh with holes measuring 500 x 500 - 600 x 600 μm. Silver powder produced in this way is composed of porous particles measuring 400-500 μm, particle pore size being 0.1-5.0 μm; specific surface area is 0.1-0.3 m2/g and bulk density is 1.0-1.8 g/cm3. Porous particles of silver powder are formed of irregular-shape nonporous crystals measuring 1.0 to 5.0 μm.
EFFECT: ability of producing silver powder of desired structural characteristics.
