FIELD: accelerating equipment engineering, possible use for developing and improving betatrons and adiabatic generators of charged toroids.
SUBSTANCE: method for accelerating electrons in a betatron includes injection of electrons and acceleration cycle. In process of electronic beam acceleration cycle the radius of balanced orbit within limits of stability area is reduced according to law where R0 - radius of balanced orbit and a and b - greater and lesser semi-axes of ellipsoid cross-section of electronic beam after injection, and R01(t) - radius of balanced orbit and a1(t) and b1(t) - greater and lesser semi-axes of ellipsoid cross-section of electronic beam in the process of acceleration cycle.
EFFECT: prevention of transverse instability of electronic beam during acceleration process, increased number of accelerated electrons.
