FIELD: electric communications, namely area connected to reduction of excessiveness of transmitted information, in particular, method for compressing and restoring speech signal.

SUBSTANCE: in accordance to the method, preliminarily identically at transmission and receipt a quadratic matrix of quantized discrete counts is generated with the size of m·m elements. Then a one-dimensional speech signal is used to form a matrix of quantized counts of speech signal with the size of N·N elements. The resulting matrix is transformed to digital form on basis of multiplication of three matrices: two rectangular matrices with N·m and m·N elements and one randomly generated quadratic matrix with m·m elements. Then, only elements of rectangular matrices are transmitted into digital channel. These elements are received from communication channel. In case of channel with errors, new basis matrix is generated at receipt, on basis of known matrix of transitory probabilities of used communication channel, and the matrix of quantized counts of speech signal with the size of N·N elements is restored.

EFFECT: ensured given trustworthiness of transmission in low speed digital communication channels with high degree of compression of information being transferred.
