FIELD: transport engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to railless wheeled road vehicles such as passenger cars and two-axle trucks, road and agricultural machines, for instance, wheeled tractors. Steerable wheels are controlled by turning outer and inner wheels in horizontal plane through angle α corresponding to curvature of vehicle motion path and simultaneous tilting of wheels through angle β in cross plane. Angle β is determined depending on side load Fs acting onto wheels and comprising G of vehicle weight, subject to condition of equality of projections of loads on wheel axle. Thanks to it axial loads acting onto steerable wheels are reduced to minimum, cross slipping in tire-and-road surface contact pattern is reduced, and overturning stability of vehicle is increased owing to increase of arm of force counteracting vehicle weight overturning force.
EFFECT: improved control of steerable wheels of road vehicles.
