FIELD: metallurgy, namely manufacture of briquettes for producing cast iron and steel.

SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of mixing preliminarily prepared scale with disintegrated carbon containing material and binder including silicon-containing material in the form of sintered and ground claydite, alkali metal carbonate and alkali metal hydro-carbonate; processing prepared mixture with use of hardener including aqueous solution of melt glass, sodium silicofluoride and filler in the form of acidic dust-like mineral such as claydite dust; pressing and further drying. At using oiled scale the last is preliminarily treated with use of silicate-lime solution containing lime in quantity 0.5 - 2.5 mass % per 1 mass% of oil and then such scale is added to aqueous solution of melt glass with density 1100-1150kg/m³ at their relation 1: 2 - 1 : 3 for further palletizing and drying at temperature 200 - 250°C. Invention provides shortened by 30 -40% time period for drying briquettes.

EFFECT: improved strength and moisture resistance of briquettes, lowered more than two times temperature of drying briquettes, shortened time period for drying briquettes.
