FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, namely, to production of briquettes from iron containing wastes used in form of additional raw material for production of cast iron, steel and ferroalloys. Briquette for metallurgical production, produced by auger pressing and subsequent drying of mixture, contains iron-containing wastes, plasticizer in form of bentonite or kaolin clay, silicofluoride sodium, binder containing silicate binder and fibrous fiber in form of basalt or glass, and water. Silicate binder is used with a silicate module of 3.0–5.0 and density of 1.1–1.4 g/cm3. Iron-containing wastes may contain fines of ferroalloys, steel or cast-iron shavings with size from 0 to 25 mm, steel or cast-iron pellets or prills with allowable particle size of up to 25 mm.

EFFECT: invention increases resistance to impact loads during overloads, transportation and loading in furnace, as well as moisture resistance, long-term storage resistance in open areas in atmospheric conditions, reducing abrasion, tendency to formation of microcracks and shedding, reducing consumption of main expensive components of metallurgical charge.
