FIELD: nuclear power engineering; spacing fuel elements in nuclear reactor fuel assemblies.
SUBSTANCE: spacer grid manufacture includes mechanical production of separate subchannels, chemical treatment, gathering of subchannels into field including introduction of auxiliary insets into holes under guide channels and into central tube, welding of subchannels to form spacer grid, and heat treatment; auxiliary inserts are made of size equal to product of diameter of guide channel or central tube by coefficient including spacer grid deformation in the course of welding and heat treatment; after welding inserts are removed.
EFFECT: reduced heat treatment time, enhanced service life of auxiliary inserts, facilitated manufacture of spacer grids.
