FIELD: mechanical engineering; shock absorbers.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to sphere of testing of shock absorbers and it can be used at designing of vibration protection of different systems and devices. Method comes to exciting vibrations in shock absorber under testing, measuring disturbing force and determining dynamic reaction by means of accelerometers and deformation pickups and plotting amplitude-frequency characteristic curve of shock absorber. Vibration tests of shock absorber are carried out in several steps. At each step absorber is exposed to action of variable-frequency harmonic vibrations and fixed frequency vibrations. Amplitudes of accelerations at each step are changed from minimum values generated by test facilities to operation levels. At each step tests are carried out with complete or partial replacement of damping members by inserts of same design and density as those of damping members. Critical stress for inserts is equal to critical stress of housing. At first step shock absorber is tested with damping members. At subsequent steps one of damping members is replaced by insert, and then damping member is returned into shock absorber, after which all damping members are replaced by inserts. Each shock absorber is subjected to station tests before and after vibration tests. Thus, static and vibration hysteresis loops are obtained. Characteristics obtained at all tests are compared. Frequency range of effective operation of shock absorber is set basing on vibration frequency at which hysteresis loops of shock absorber with inserts coincide with dynamic loop of hysteresis of shock absorber with damping members.

EFFECT: improved quality of testing of shock absorbers at vibration.
