METHOD FOR DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSIS OF BACTERIAL AND VIRAL MENINGITIS Russian patent published in 2008 - IPC G01N33/68 G01N33/53

Abstract RU 2323444 C2

FIELD: medicine, immunology.

SUBSTANCE: method involves determination of lactoferrin in liquor by method of solid-phase enzyme immunoassay. Viral etiology of meningitis is diagnosed at value of lactoferrin 0.1 mg/l or less, and bacterial etiology of meningitis is diagnosed at value of lactoferrin 0.5 mg/l and above. The second portion of liquor is used for analysis of volume 1-2 ml from a total sample taken for study liquor. Use of method provides enhancing the effectiveness of early liquor differential diagnosis of neuroinfections of bacterial and viral etiology for solvent question for carrying out the antibacterial chemotherapy. Invention can be used for differential diagnosis of bacterial and viral meningitis.

EFFECT: improved method of diagnosis of meningitis.
