FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine and represents a method for differential diagnosis of meningitis in children by flow cytometry, characterized by that in an acute period of the disease, a subpopulation composition of lymphocytes of liquor is examined: CD3+T-lymphocytes, CD3-CD16+CD56+ natural killers, CD3-CD19+ B-lymphocytes, determining the percentage of CD3-CD19+ B-lymphocytes from the sum of said liquor lymphocyte subpopulations and if the CD3-CD19+ B-lymphocyte content is more than 2.72 % diagnosing bacterial meningitis, and at values equal to or below 2.72 %, viral meningitis.
EFFECT: application of the given method allows at the early stage of the disease to differentiate its viral or bacterial nature, to conduct valid etiotropic therapy in due time, thus improving results of treatment and outcomes of bacterial and virus meningitises in children.
