FIELD: lighting, electricity.
SUBSTANCE: display consists of pixels, each of them including a reflective light modulating (LM) section and a light emitting (LE) section. The reflective LM section and LE section comprise elements made in the form of layers and a double-sided common substrate. Moreover, the elements of the reflective LM section are arranged on the top side of the common substrate, and the elements of the LE section are arranged on the bottom side of the common substrate. Besides, each pixel is divided into two segments by means of a separating surface that runs across the common substrate, whereon the elements of the reflective LM section are arranged in one segment of the pixel and those of the LE section - in another segment of the pixel. A method for manufacturing the hybrid liquid crystal display includes the following steps: making of a common substrate; application of control elements and electrodes to both sides of the common substrate using a double-side printing technique; application of elements of the reflective LM section to the top side of the common substrate; application of elements of the LE section to the bottom side of the common substrate.
EFFECT: making of a hybrid light modulating display.
