FIELD: electrical engineering, polymer materials.
SUBSTANCE: in the polymer sheath with wall thickness from 4 mm to 6 mm a spatial mesh of polymer chains is created that is irregular over the sheath thickness; the chains are cross-linked mainly by polyvinylene bridges in such a manner as to have the level of cross-linking of 55-65% in inner layers and 20-25% in outer layers, which is achieved through presaturation of the intermediate product with acetylene at increased temperature and further radiation treatment in air at ambient temperature by Cobalt 60 radionuclide gamma-rays.
EFFECT: obtaining a sheath for high-voltage cable couplers with the level of polymer cross-linking is distributed in such a manner as to provide for high level of cross-linking in inner layers, thus ensuring high thermo-mechanical parameters at blowing and shrinking, and low cross-linking level in outer layers provides for high glue adhesion.
