SUBSTANCE: invention stipulates for media, storing multimedia picture stream and text-based subtitle stream, playback device and playback method to play text-based subtitle stream, recorded separately from multimedia picture stream so that subtitle data could be easily played back and edited, and cue could be presented in multiple languages. The media stores: picture data; text-based subtitle data to display static picture on the image based on picture data; at that, subtitle data includes: one element of style information, which defines static picture display style; and a lot of presentation data elements, which are subtitle display units, whereas subtitle data itself is recorded separately from picture data.
EFFECT: static picture can be presented in multiple languages, and it also can be easily played back and edited; static picture style can be modified using several methods; a capability is provided to highlight a single part of the static picture visually or to apply a separate style, which can be selected by user.
