FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: workpiece for a hollow vane of a turbine of a gas turbine engine is obtained by casting into a ceramic mould with a ceramic rod, using the directional crystallisation method. A process protection coating is applied on the external surface of the cast workpiece removed from the mould together with the ceramic rod. The coating protects the workpiece against damage. The workpiece is subjected to hot isostatic pressing and the coating is removed. The presence of the ceramic rod in the workpiece cavity prevents from the oxidation of the heat-resistant alloy at the internal surface of the workpiece.
EFFECT: increase in operational reliability and service life of gas turbine engine turbine vanes.
