FIELD: metallurgy; electrolysis.
SUBSTANCE: said utility invention relates to a technology of collection of carcinogenic polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) formed during fast pyrolysis of the anode paste binder in the process operation of current-carrying stud pulling during aluminium production by electrolysis, in top-worked Soderberg electrolytic cells, for decreasing hazardous emissions into the atmosphere. The method of gas collection during removal of anode studs of the aluminium electrolytic cell involves their localisation in shells with gas-tight plugs, installed at the stud locations; subsequent removal of gases through suction gas ducts; the shells have additionally installed filters made of thermal expanded graphite with a density of 0.001-0.05 g/cm3.
EFFECT: enhancement of ecological conditions of aluminium production.
