SUBSTANCE: said utility invention relates to a system and method for separation of short pieces of rolled bars from pieces of full-length rolled bars in the rolling mill and the recycling of the former. First, the rolled bar pieces are transported on a discharge rolling table from shears to a transfer station where the pieces are collected in a layer. This layer is transported in the transverse direction, from the transfer station to a separating rolling table at a separation station. A hoist lifts the rear ends of the full-length rolled bar pieces from the separating rolling table, and the separating rolling table transports short pieces of rolled bars to the recycling station. After that, the remaining full-length rolled bar pieces are returned to the transfer station and sent to the baling station. This increases the rolling mill product yield.

EFFECT: increase in rolling mill product yield.
