FIELD: nuclear physics.
SUBSTANCE: target of the neutron tube is preliminarily saturated with deuterium until an atom ratio η not less than 1.6 is attained, where η is the ratio of deuterium atoms to atoms of the adsorbent layer. The target is installed into the tube, and then the target is filled by a uniformly blended beam of deuterium and tritium ions.
EFFECT: increased neutron stream, increased reliability and operation resources of gas filled neutron tubes.
