FIELD: electrothermics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrothermics, in particular, to the electrodes for electric arc furnaces made up of graphite cylindrical sections and may be used in three-phase electric arc furnaces in production of steel and non-ferrous metals. The electrode contains graphite cylinder sections coupled by means of threaded joints. The said sections possess an anisotropy of specific resistance at their ed faces. The cylindrical sections are interconnected so that the end faces with a high specific resistance adjoin those with a low specific resistance. Here, the high specific resistance is 1.2÷2 times higher than the low one.
EFFECT: electrode features smaller material consumption required for its production per a ton of produced steel.
