FIELD: instrument engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention belongs to the instrument engineering field and can be used, for example, for creating lasers, plasma chemical reactors, etc. The technical effect - gas-discharge process efficiency enhancement. In order to reach this effect, roughly rectangular electric field impulses with optimal density, length and frequency, are created in the gas discharge area. Voltage impulse generator, whose output voltage doesn't go beyond the given range with respective load deviations within the certain range, is used as the power supply source. Optimal voltage impulse parameters at the primary transformer windings are set without any necessity of connecting quick-operating fully controlled switches in series.
EFFECT: gas-discharge process efficiency enhancement.
