FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: magnetic system of pipe flaw detector includes a number of magnetic system elements set in circles along the detector case perimeter. Each element comprises pole piece, magnetic field source and magnetic core containing at least one coil of magnetic material band fixed by the side surfaces between the said pole piece and magnetic field source, while the central axis of the roll is directed perpendicularly to traveling direction of flaw detector.
EFFECT: lower drag resistance to flaw detector travel and possibility to operate the detector in pipes of rather wide diameter range without readjustment.
