FIELD: devices and method of using cards.
SUBSTANCE: invention pertains to device (1) and a method of using cards in such a device, in particular for a tachograph in a cargo vehicle, made in form of a flat construction, with a receiving opening for putting a card, which consists of data memory, with a shutter for closing the receiving opening, with a holding unit (50), which consists of at least, one holding element (51), which can be moved to the holding position, in which at least, one holding element (51) closes the shutter. The result of the need for complete automatic input of the card are the considerable technical difficulties, which are determined, partly, by the requirement of providing for reliable functioning of mechanical and electronic components in a minimal space. The invention proposes a device and method, according to which device (1) for using cards consists of at least, a primary sensor. The position of at least, one holding element (51) is determined through the primary sensor.
EFFECT: invention allows for large mechanical loads during operation when using cards.
