FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: method includes charge melting by direct current with vertical plasmatron, which is installed in furnace arch. After charge melting further melting is carried out by direct current with inclined plasmatron, which is installed in furnace wall, at the angle of 15-30° to metal bath. In all periods of melting the ratio of arc length to bath diameter amounts to 0.7-0.85.
EFFECT: increase of arc radiation to metal and reduction of radiation to furnace walls and arch.
