FIELD: electrothermal engineering, in particular, methods of heat running in electric arc steel melting furnaces. SUBSTANCE: heat is run during melting period on direct current. At the end of melting and in liquid periods heat is run on alternating current that allows attainment of maximum efficiency of arc during the entire heat and provision of maximum rate of metal heating and furnace output.
