FIELD: mechanical testing.
SUBSTANCE: clamp for tensile testing comprises a body with force-transmitting elements for attachment to a tensile-testing machine, wedge-shaped jaws, mounted in the body, a retainer bar being connected with the wedge-shaped jaws by means of pins and springs disposed thereon, a wedge-shaped insert, along the perimeter of which on the lateral surface there is a groove for receiving a specimen under test, a clamp screw being installed into a threaded hole, which is drilled in the body and the centerline of which coincides with the direction of applying a stress under test, and the head of the clamp screw being a direct force-transmitting element of the applied stress under test. The effect is achieved for specimens that are made of materials having a high degree of hardness.
EFFECT: improving the security of attachment and the objectivity of testing the strength properties of specimens, as well as increasing the ease of use of the clamp.
