FIELD: measuring instruments.
SUBSTANCE: proposed liquid crystal display is provided with a backlighting system, which includes a light distributor comprising a polariser made of electrically conductive light-reflecting stripes, the surface density of which varies so that to compensate unevenness of backlighting by their degree of light transmission. The stripped polariser, which is provided in the proposed distributor, reflects mostly the light having a polarisation that the inlet polariser cannot transmit. The same light, having been repeatedly reflected from elements of a light box, changes its polarisation and contributes to the display brightness. The invention proposes embodiments, wherein the polariser has the form of spots, the distribution of which leads to evening out of the brightness over the surface, and of variable-width strips providing the same effect.
EFFECT: providing the evenness of backlighting.
