FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention concerns the field of chemical heat sources, particularly the heat transfer materials based on magnesium oxidation. Powder mix for exothermal reaction includes magnesium alloy powder with a metal catalyst and reaction speed controller, where a metal catalyst is iron and/or silicon, particle size of the magnesium alloy powder with metal catalyst is 200-500 micron, and a reaction speed controller is a magnesium alloy powder with metal catalyst and particle size of 501-800 micron at the following component ratio (mass %): magnesium alloy powder with particle size of 200-500 micron - 65-90; magnesium alloy powder with particle size of 501-800 micron - 10-35. The powder mix can include additionally 5-15 mass % of a relatively high-dispersion fraction of magnesium alloy powder with particle size of 100-199 micron. Iron content in the iron and magnesium alloy comprises 5-10 mass %, and silicon content is 0.5-2.0 mass %. The powder mix can include 3-7 mass % of sodium chloride.
EFFECT: elimination of reaction speed controlling components inert in heat emission; increase of specific heat quantity emitted by a weight unit of the mix in the process of magnesium reaction in the water electrolyte solution.
