FIELD: mining.
SUBSTANCE: invention concerns fire and explosion safety techniques, mainly prevention of methane combustion and explosion in coal mines. The method involves dilution of the mine air with nitrogen for reduction of oxygen concentration. Along with that, methane escaping the mine is burned in the mine air mix, and the resulting nitrogen-saturated gas mix is used for dilution of mine air with nitrogen.
EFFECT: improved safety of mine operation for people and reduced pollutant discharge to environment.
