FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of cathode catalysts with a lowered content of platinum for alcohol FC. According to the invention, the cathode catalyst with a lowered content of platinum for the electrode FC includes a porous carbon carrier and a platinum-cobalt alloy, and the content of platinum and cobalt in the catalyst makes 9.5÷15.0 mass.%. The platinum-cobalt alloy is characterised by the general empirical formula PtaCob, where: a is from 0.5 to 0.7; b from 0.3 to 0.5; a+b=1. As the carbon carrier soot Vulcan XC72 or acetylene soot "АД100" can be used. Cobalt in the platinum-cobalt alloy is inculcated into the lattice of the platinum. The ratio of the content of cobalt to the content of platinum on the surface of the particles of the catalyst makes 0.4÷0.5, the particles of the catalyst have the average size from 3 to 5.0 nm.

EFFECT: high electro-catalytic activity stability and the optimum structure of cathode platinum-cobalt catalyst.
