FIELD: metallurgy industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to electrolytic cell for chlorine deriving from aqueous solution of halide of alkali metal. Electrolytic cell consists of two semi-covers, each of them is attached to electrode by means of set of conductive lines, at that electrodes consist of anode and cathode and ion-exchange membrane located between electrodes. Between ion-exchange membrane and electrodes there are many separating elements for membrane fixation on the spot and distribution of compression forces made of electro conductive and corrosion-resisting material. In area of contact with above mentioned separating elements membrane thickness is at least 10% increased.
EFFECT: invention allows to use area of active membrane surface more efficiently and to save electric energy.
