FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to electrolysis method for aqueous solution of hydrogen chloride or alkaline metal chloride. Method is implemented in electrolytic cell consisting at least of anode half-cell and anode, cathode half-cell and gas diffusion electrode as cathode, cation exchange membrane separating anode half-cell and cathode half-cell. Oxygen-containing gas is fed to cathode half-cell, and redundant oxygen- and hydrogen containing gas is evacuated from cathode half-cell and undergoes catalytic oxidation of hydrogen, and after catalytic hydrogen oxidation, the processed gas is recycled in cathode half-cell.
EFFECT: invention allows for multiple utilisation of redundant oxygen without production of explosive oxygen and hydrogen mix.
