FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention concerns electronic switching circuit for electric power supply to at least one electrode (11) of alternate-current electric furnace, for metal melting in particular. The switching circuit includes a serial circuit of a transformer maintaining supply voltage from power network (1) for electric furnace, and adjustable converter (8) plugged in between transformer (6) and electrode (11) of the adjustable alternate current converter (8) for adjustment of the current passing through electrode (11). Adjustable alternate current converter is shunted by splitting switch (9) which closes or opens with the help of a control unit depending on the current magnitude in the electrode (11).
EFFECT: prevention of overload of adjustable alternate current converter in operation modes of electric furnace with high electrode current, and streamlined construction of switching circuit.
